COURSE DESCRIPTION: Mobile Application Development provides the students a knowledge on how to develop mobile applications using the Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME). The course focuses on the Connected Limited Device Configuration (CLDC) and Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP) of J2ME. This course also includes topics on how to architect and develop enterprise applications using J2ME, XML, JDBC, Servlets and JSP/JSTL.

COURSE OBJECTIVES

This course aims to:

· discuss Connected Limited Device Configuration (CLDC) and Mobile Information Device Profile (MIDP)

· demonstrate the steps on how to develop mobile applications using the Java 2 Platform, Micro Edition (J2ME)

· explain J2ME classes such as high level UI and low level UI classes

· apply J2ME classes in a program

· deploy MIDlets created to a cellular phone

· demonstrate optimization techniques in creating mobile applications
